PICT0020.JPGMyriam and I have been here since Thursday on a work/play trip. After driving up Thursday AM I worked pretty much the entire time till Friday at 8pm. There was heaps of stuff to do to get the shopping center ready for winter and it seems the contractors up here aren’t real interested in working much. There are a few good ones but I can’t even get one guy to return a phone call. I guess thats what happens when there is heaps of growth in a small isolated town with an average home price near half a million dollars.

PICT0028.JPG I have stayed away from work for the most part this weekend and replaced it with some good mountain bikes rides each day. I even did the double today, after riding Myriam and I went hiking near Strawberry Park Hot Springs. I am pretty much blown to bits and ready for bed. Tomorrow is a early morning meeting with some concrete guys and tying up loose eds before heading back to the front range in the afternoon.

Living the other dream

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Lots of people want to be pro bike racers. I loved it and wouldn’t have changed a thing, the stuff I learned and things I experienced will be with me for the rest or my life.

Now on to the next dream. Work, I have worked before, sat in a cube for days on end without seeing the light. Actually had Schwinn not hit the floor I would have never became a bike racer. I like working. Its only be a month back at it but the schedule is good, I like what I do and the people I work with. Then there is the paycheck, benefits and security the real world has to offer.

One of the challenges I am facing is training time. I am getting it in. Running in the AM, gym in the PM and riding 2-3 days a week which is plenty for right now. The other challenge is not eating out at lunch. So far so good since my amazing my has been making me lunch to take.

This post is all over the place.
Time to listen to Bicycle radio!
Geneviève Jenson is on live tonight with the crew there including Austin King.
