The thing I miss most.

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I got this email from a friend that I may never see again. We were teammates for a year and both full time bike racers for a while and have a few other things in common but now live almost 3000 miles apart and I hear it sucks where he lives.

WROTE:
I love ebay:

HIS Question -What size are these?

MY Answer -whats the first word in the description? thats the size.

HIS Response -You’re right - sorry I missed it smart ass!

My Reply -Just stating the obvious, dumb ass.

Maybe a little swampy visit in Ft. Smith will be due in 8 years for a ten year reunion. I had some pictures I could show but the paranoid old man wanted me to delete them.

janelle_mike1.jpg I got to know Mike a little bit in 2005 and while I can’t say I knew him well I can say he had a pretty amazing attitude and love for life. Like in the picture you see here I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile on his face.

Below is some memorial info from his long time friend Jay:
Dear Friends,

I regret to inform you that Mike Janelle passed away suddenly and unexpectedly early this morning at his home in Avon. The cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest. He had no known symptoms pryor to his death. There will be a memorial service open to the public this Monday November 26th at 5:00pm at the Vilar Center for the Arts in Beaver Creek. Parking is available at the base lots and shuttles are provided to the Vilar Center. The shuttle will take an extra 15 minutes.

Mike touched many lives so please forward this message to anyone who you think might want to know. A memorial fund will also be set up in the following days. Please feel free to contact me about any details.

Sincerely,

Jay Henry
