Closer
My team stuff is moving along. Every day this week I have had good news and am that much closer to finalizing everything. I am thinking I will race less, maybe just local stuff. That way I could bring on another rider that has the full throttle mentality it takes to make it to the next level. I have some committed sponsors and am now negotiating with industry folks. I really wish I had started this a little sooner but a month ago I hadn’t even thought about starting a team so I guess I am happy with where I am at. My plan is to have a mix of younger guys and NRC veterans focusing on local/regional racing in in Colorado and the Midwest as well as 10-15 NRC races. I will get the guys to the races and in a position to get some results and provide an opportunity to get noticed by the domestic UCI teams. I am still probably a week away from being able to really move forward with making offers to riders but I am extremely confident it will happen and am 100% committed to doing it.

Good for you, Dan.
Any ideas on a team name yet?

“Team Awesome” is already taken. Seriously, it’s the name of a cyclocross team in Northern Ohio.

[…] The THF Realty racing team is a go. THF is a fan of cycling and has helped out many teams for the better part of a decade. Now we are going back to where we started in 2001. That year we had a lot of fun, won races and for 2002 Alex Candelario, Chuck Coyle and myself all moved on to UCI teams. The 2001 team disbanded since I was the one running it but my vision for the 2nd edition has much longer term focus. I have been talking to some riders and am still looking for a few more. If you think your a good fit send me and email with your resume and tell me why. Danschmatz@aol.com […]
