Montreal

montreal.jpgThis is a picture of what Montreal usually offers me when I visit. I am usually pretty happy anyway when I am here to visit my family and the weather just seems to be one of those things, the good with the bad I think they say. Since we often visit in the winter with all the snow I don’t even bother to bring my bike and use the time for rest.

escaliermtl.jpgThis trip doesn’t bring any snow but with some fresh hardware in my shoulder I will not be doing any pedaling. Again its time to visit with family and have some rest. We have a photo planned with Myriams father Serge tomorrow and on Thursday Myriams mother Elisa has a shower planned for Samuel (aka Jackson junior.) I guess its really for Myriam and I since Samuel is still about 3 months away.

Another issue besides the weather we seem to have when coming here is the loss of our luggage. Sometimes its mine, sometimes Myriams and in this case since we shared one bag its both of ours! Maybe this will give us an excuse to spend some money at one of the great shopping areas here? My shoulder seems to be healing well. Although its still hard to sleep at night each morning I wake with greater range of motion and less pain than the day before. I will see the doctor when I get back to St. Louis and hopefully get some internal pictures so we can see what is happening in there.

IMG_1513.JPGIf you break your collarbone and surgery is an option I highly recommend it. I wouldn’t have said that with the pain I was in yesterday but when I woke this morning I was shocked at how good I felt. There are pros and cons to letting it heal on it on or getting a plate installed. Some of the pros to letting it heal alone is no knife, less expense, less risk of infection and no big scar. Some of the pros of surgery are no big bone sticking up, your shoulders sit the same height, quicker healing time and a greater chance of the bone fusing properly.

They wouldn’t take any pictures during but here are a few pictures from before the knife on friday:

IMG00179.JPGAs you can see by my MC Hammer pants I am still sitting in the hospital. I should be able to leave, I had hoped to get out last night but it felt like a car was parked on my chest and they wouldn’t let us leave with the meds needed to sort that out. Its almost noon now and I haven’t had anything for pain since 7am, that was what I had to do to leave “manage” the pain. Well I have managed long enough now I just want to leave.

Last night pretty much sucked. I was having these sweating fits followed by head aches, I guess that’s what happens when I don’t get to eat for 24 hours and they give me drugs. It reminded me way to much of 1996. On top of that there was a machine next door that was beeping off and on all night. I think the longest sleep I strung together was 2 hours.

Time to push the nurse call button and check on those discharge papers.
