The world I know

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

There are much bigger issues in the world I know

But I first have to take care of the world I know

I am sitting at the tulsa airport waiting for the hotel shuttle that was

“stuck behind a train.” I had decided that there was no reason to

complain or get bummed becuase my life is so good. Now I don’t even mean

that by relative standards, I really think I have it better than most

people as a whole. I get paid to do something I love, I have an amazing

wife, my family is great and I have a handful of really good friends. I

really think being a bike racer long enough can give you a really

distorted view of what is “bad” and miss some of what is good or great

in the process.

Ok, back to being a bike racing. I have to complain about waiting for

this shuttle. We complain about everything so this should be no

different. Its cold, its hot, I’m hungry, I’m full, this bikes to light,

this bikes to heavy, the team waste money, the rider don’t get paid

enough, that guys overpaid.

Shuttle is here…

Sad News

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Denver cyclist Grayson Pointer was injuried in an accident. I found this but have no more info:
“He is currently in a coma (5 days). i am not sure what hospital he is staying in, but they are going to start a blog to update his status. he has showed signs by squeezing hands, but other than that in critical condition.”

Best wishes for a full recovery!

Two years later

Two years ago a cyclist was killed while riding just north of Boulder. I think this article is very refreshing and puts a lot of things in perspective:

Forgiving, remembering: Cyclist’s kindness, spirit, recalled 2 years after fatal accident

Although talented enough to lead the pack when cruising with his cycling buddies, Scott Kornfield was the type of man to hang back with the slowest riders.

Kornfield, 28, also had a reputation for freely giving bicycle parts to broken-down riders — even if it meant he’d be without a spare should his tire go flat.

It’s been two years since the bright-eyed newlywed died, and those not-so-random acts of kindness are just a small symbol of the generosity Kornfield’s friends and family members remember.

Kornfield was killed the Memorial Day morning of May 30, 2005, near a spot along North Foothills Highway that’s now marked with a sign bearing his name. A Boulder High School teen fell asleep at the wheel (more…)

dogs_pitbulls (3).jpgI don’t understand how anyone could be involved in dog fighting but I will wait a little longer to find out some more information but I am thinking this guy needs to go way. Some things blow my mind.
