Yesterday was a criterium in “downtown” Longmont. Myriam and I did a little cruiser coffee ride IMG_0881.JPGin the AM then I played bike mechanic for Michaels, Margaret, Myriams, and my bike after the soaking they got the day before. After I got the bikes done we hung out a little then headed back over for the race. On the way back over I realized that all 4 places in Colorado I have lived have had criteriums just a few minutes away. The place we are looking at in Louisville is about 500 meters from the second turn on a crit Brian puts on so it must be a good sign that the place is right for us.

DSC00008.JPG It was a typical Colorado criterium. Guys from Health Net, Tiaa Cref, Colovita, Toyota-United as well as full teams from Vitamin Cottage, Einsteins, Haul N Ass, Wild Oats and lots of guys with just a few teammates. These things are all pretty much the same. Scott starts attacking and everyone chases. When all those guys get tired he attacks again then more guys chase. Eventually most the guys are tired and he gets a way with a few guys. Today it was me and 5 others. We were off for about 50 minutes and ended up being together on the final lap with the field about 10 seconds behind. After an attack with about 500 meters to go I went over the top and stayed away for the win.
I was really happy to win since Julie, Greg, Alex, Justin and Logan were all there to see it. One more day in Colorado before heading to St. Louis for the Gateway Cup.

PICT0334.JPGPICT0337.JPGPICT0338.JPGMichael and MJ came to our house at 6:30AM this morning for the Tour De Cure. Due to road construction (I’m not sure where) they switched the 100k route from a ride up to Ward to a ride north around Berthoud. Myriam and I are not down at all with rolling out at 7 in the morning but it did afford us a lot of time this afternoon to look at some lofts, and townhomes. We found some interesting stuff in Louisville and think we may have found a great Loft. The hard part will be getting 1609 19th ave ready to put on the market then deciding on 1 or 2 bedrooms.

Last but not least check out these lamas getting crazy in the middle of the morning!

Pond update

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

pond.JPGThe is what the pond looks like now. Well, this is what this part of the pond looks like now. I didn’t take a larger shot for some reason because of the 14 fish that used to live here only 4 are still around. It was about 6am the morning after I decided to replace the liner when Myriam said “something bad happened”. The bad thing was 10 floating fish in a couple large trash cans that I had on the porch. When we spoke to the expert at the Koi Lagoon in Ft. Collins he said something about not enough oxygen getting through the small surface area of water. It could have been 8 inches deep and 5 feet wide and would have been better that the 3 feet deep and 2 foot wide set up I had. There are still 4 smaller fish swimming around but we hardly see them since they hide most the time. It seems the death of there friends has torn them up a bit.

If these fish are that bummed how do these folks feel?
