I have no idea how many times I have been up South St. Vrain but riding it yesterday with the fresh asphalt made it feel like a new road. I took this picture of Keaton, Martin, and Austin about halfway up the climb. We went to Raymond then Peak to Peak and back down to Lyons and the guys handled the climb with no problems. The only real difficulty came when we went back down the hill because 130lb juniors riding junior gears don’t have much of a gravitational advantage. Today we are heading north for some flatter roads before heading back up for a ride to Ward on Monday.
Better news is that Myriam and I are housing some juniors from the Dent Wizard Cycling Team for a week. Austin, Martin, and Keaton got in Tuesday afternoon and will be here till Tuesday. I took them over Old Stage and up Lee Hill yesterday and other than a few flat tires there were no worries. We did an easy ride this morning and will meet up with the Bus Stop ride this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a rest day then Saturday will be there initiation to a big mountain ride.
It has been a few days since we left Wisconsin and I already miss some of the things that were happening there. A gigantic thanks goes out to Matt for putting Jono and I up. We had a great time and being at his place was the difference from cracking under the weight of the hack fest that is superweek and having a good time.
